For more than a century, the name ANKER has been closely associated with the POS process chain ANKER a driving force. Under new leadership since 2015, this long-established Bielefeld-based company is increasingly focusing on strategic development. Through the acquisition of the German POS service provider PORESY, ANKER is expanding its capabilities and evolving into a comprehensive POS solutions provider.
Since ANKER was reestablished in 2015, the company has succeeded in building on the brand’s historic success. In doing so, this young company with deep roots focuses equally on stability and growth. The first major milestone came in 2019 with a management buyout. As a result, Managing Director Dr. Fabian Schühle and Operations Manager Maik-Oliver Winzker took the reins of the company as new shareholders. To date, this has enabled ANKER become market leader in the German-speaking food retail sector.
The growing challenges of an increasingly digitized market convinced ANKER leadership that the company’s future also lies in returning to the brand’s tradition as a comprehensive point-of-sale system provider for both hardware and software. The company took its first step in this direction in 2020 with the acquisition of the software developer LocaFox. Since then, the Berlin-based company has complemented ANKER offerings ANKER cloud-based software solutions for sole proprietorships and small to medium-sized businesses in the retail sector.
With the acquisition of PORESY, ANKER is taking another important step forward. With PORESY, ANKER is expanding ANKER range of services to include software development, customization, implementation, and long-term support for POS systems, including 24/7 first- and second-level support. In doing so, ANKER made the transition from a hardware expert to a full-service provider with comprehensive POS solution expertise for customers of all sizes.
“We are pleased to be able to expand the ANKER with another member through our collaboration with PORESY and to strengthen the ANKER expertise in the areas of software and services.”
Dr. Fabian Schühle
Managing Partner of the ANKER
“We are pleased to be able to expand the ANKER with another member through our collaboration with PORESY and to strengthen the ANKER expertise in the areas of software and services,” explains Dr. Fabian Schühle, managing partner of ANKER . “We would like to thank everyone involved at ANKER, PORESY, and LocaFox, without whose outstanding work this acquisition would not have been possible.”
Following the retirement of company founder Thomas Pluskat and the handover of management to his successor, Katja Schestakow, PORESY’s customer base–which has grown over more than two decades – will now also benefit in the long term from the new structure and will continue to be served by the same 80 PORESY employees, who have now been integrated into the ANKER . “By merging our companies, we aim to continue our successful work in the best interests of our customers,” explains Katja Schestakow. “At the same time, we look forward to contributing our expertise as part of the ANKER to joint projects in the future, so that we can offer our customers an even more attractive portfolio of products and services for the point of sale.”
Together with LocaFox and PORESY, ANKER focuses ANKER combining state-of-the-art hardware–such as self-checkout systems, which are increasingly in demand by customers–with the necessary software, integration into existing IT infrastructure, and a comprehensive range of services, from rollout to ongoing support, all from a single source.
