The case is made of steel, which makes the cassette extremely robust and resistant. The coin compartment and holder of the coin cups, on the other hand, are made of aluminum. The cups themselves are made of ABS plastic and are weighable, which makes them perfect for use with money scales. Due to the overall construction, a weight of less than 2.5 kg could be realized in this way. This makes the SMC only 20% heavier than a comparable plastic cassette and only about half the weight of a comparable full-size steel cassette.
Low design with standard footprint dimensions
Housing is made of steel and inserts of aluminum

Weighable Coin Cups
Lock blocking during checkout process and operation by key when removed from the base.
The current layout with 4 bill and 6 coin compartments is primarily designed for use in northern European countries outside the euro zone with up to 6 types of coins, e.g. Danish kroner.
A version with 8 coin compartments for the euro zone is being planned.
The SMC is equipped with a lock blockade when used in the base. This means that although the cassette has a lock, it cannot be opened in the checkout area by means of a key but only via the checkout system. If the cassette is removed from the base, on the other hand, it can be opened with a key. This is useful in that no additional hardware in the form of a cassette opener is required in the back office, for example. This enables optimum access security by the responsible cashier personnel with the simplest administrative handling and balances the advantages and disadvantages of cassettes with and without a built-in lock.
