Thomas Philipps, an established discount retailer with a wide range of household goods and gardening supplies, operates in several countries and has approximately 800 stores. Project Scope and Consulting
The project began with an extensive consultation phase that focused on consulting, the creation of requirements and specifications documents, and the detailed documentation of requirements. Thomas Philipps needed a modern, scalable solution to upgrade the existing point-of-sale system to a more powerful and user-friendly version. As part of the project with Thomas Philipps, the Toshiba point-of-sale software was tailored to the company’s requirements and enhanced to create a perfectly customised solution.
Touchscreen interface and new features for seamless checkout operations
With the new point-of-sale system, Thomas Philipps is getting a modern user interface for the first time, replacing the previous process that did not include an operator display. In addition, the system offers a range of features specifically tailored to the company’s needs:
Hardware from ANKER
In addition to the software, ANKER supplied the necessary hardware components for nearly 800 checkout stations. Among other things, the project utilized ANKER –flexible mounts for payment terminals, printers, and customer and operator displays. The ANKER , which have proven their reliability and durability over many years, will continue to be used.
Error-free postings and reduced training requirements
Thanks to the new, user-friendly interface, incorrect entries are a thing of the past. The intuitive design and touch functionality also significantly reduce the amount of training required for employees, making the transition to the new system easier.
International Rollout
The rollout of the new point-of-sale system was completed in October 2024. A total of approximately 300 stores with 800 checkout stations were equipped across three countries–Germany, Austria, and Lithuania. Thanks to the software’s three language versions, all locations were able to be seamlessly integrated into the process.
